About
Pynewood Press was founded in 2023 by Shmuel Barber, a dedicated editor and author who brings over a decade of valuable experience to the literary world. He started his career by writing and meticulously proofreading scripts to prepare them for various studios, where he honed his craft. As his career evolved, he transitioned into editing children’s fiction and gradually expanded his expertise into the realms of academic, business, and non-fiction editing. Shmuel has also gained experience working for a B2B publishing house, where he wrote articles for two bi-monthly magazines.
Currently, he is focusing on developmental editing and providing coaching for a young aspiring writer of fantasy novels, as well as working on a book of ghost stories and a feature screenplay intended for a Jewish Chabad community in New York. In addition, he is involved in various editing projects for a diverse range of clients.
Shmuel established Pynewood Press with the vision of publishing emerging and established writers across multiple genres.
He has recently released a collection of short stories and is working on a novel.
Passionate about literature and storytelling, Shmuel enjoys reading Classics and Russian literature, while also actively supporting contemporary authors. He possesses the necessary skills to handle any writing style, from romance to gripping crime thrillers. His enduring love for grammar and vocabulary propels him to refine both elements in his editorial work. Additionally, he has spent many years teaching English to non-native speakers in various countries, including Japan, China, and the UK.
