PYNEWOOD PRESS
An Independent Imprint
London • Tokyo • Global
Pynewood Press is an independent imprint dedicated to high-quality storytelling. What excites us is fiction that feels considered from the outset, shaped by intention, curiosity, and a genuine commitment to the craft through diverse forms.
From our editorial base in Tokyo, working across borders, we approach fiction with an awareness of how it shifts between contexts. We are currently seeking original works written in English and writing that arrives in English through translation. What matters is not its origin, but how fully it holds together, how well it carries across. That perspective shapes what we look for, but not in a restrictive way. We’re open to a wide range of voices and concepts.
There is a particular energy we’re drawn to: writing that feels engaged with itself, and with the act of making something that lasts. Not just competent or well-finished, but alive to its own possibilities. The kind of work where you sense the writer has pushed beyond the obvious choices, and stayed with the piece long enough for it to become something more.
If this resonates with you, read more here.
Caress the details, the divine details.

Getting a feel for how editor and writer work together was a very good experience for me. I belong to a writers group but sometimes it makes things more complex. The editor really got to the heart of the story and knew how to find the missing pieces.
